"Believe you can and you're halfway there."
Mark started his rugby career as a player with Buffalo Rugby Club. He quickly fell in love with the sport and knew he wanted to be involved in rugby for years to come. While with BRC, Mark would help contribute to several successful seasons and playoff runs with the club. In 2017, Mark was voted as the most improved player for the club.
Unfortunately, Mark’s playing career ended up being cut short due to a health issue. Knowing he wanted to continue in rugby in some way, Mark joined the BRC coaching staff in the Fall 2018 season to help with strength and conditioning work. In the spring, Mark would join the BRC Youth Program as assistant coach and would spend the next 3 years helping in this role.
In 2023, Coach Mackenzie asked Mark to join his coaching staff as the backs coach for the Kenmore Rugby High School Boys. Mark was thrilled to join such an established high school program with a coaching staff so dedicated and knowledgeable.
Mark’s favorite coaching experience was the 2023 State Rugby Championship, where Kenmore finished in 3rd place. Kenmore showed how much hard work, a positive approach, and a growth mindset can accomplish, as Kenmore was able to play their best rugby of the season to finish strong.
Mark resides in Buffalo with his wife and daughter. When he is not playing and coaching rugby, he enjoys working on his fitness, spending time with his family, and obsessing about Buffalo sports. He is a teacher by trade, and is currently working at Bishop Timon St. Jude High School.
