A Kenmore West social studies teacher currently on sabbatical, Bill Conrad is the Assemblyman for the New York State Assembly's 140th District, and has been coaching Kenmore Rugby since founding the club in 2003.
Conrad began his rugby career in 1996 at SUNY Fredonia where he captained the team for two years and was named to the New York State College All-Star team in 1999. After graduating, Bill continued his rugby with Lockport RFC, South Buffalo Rugby, St. Catherine's RFC and the Buffalo Rugby Club. In 2003, Bill was a member of the gold medal winning Western Region in the Empire State Games Sevens Rugby Tournament.
As a member of the Buffalo Rugby Club, Bill was a part of the 2007 Buffalo team that won the Midwest playoffs qualifying for USA Rugby's National Championship tournament. Conrad also captained the 2011 Buffalo team that won the Midwest D2 Cup and the 2012 team that went undefeated in D1 in the fall of 2012.
Conrad began his coaching career in 2003 as founder and head coach of the Kenmore West Boys and Girls Rugby Football Clubs. Bill has also coached at the University at Buffalo and was the JV Head Coach for the 2014 RugbyNY Western Boys All-Star team.
Coach Conrad holds a New York State Coaching Certificate, USA Rugby Level 400 Coaching Certificate, and is trained in Red Cross CPR and first aid. Bill resides in the Town of Tonawanda with his wife Mary Kate and their four children.
